Seville Heritage Park in Runaway Bay St. Ann is one of Jamaica’s poignant heritage sites as it encapsulates the four historical periods: Taino, Spanish, African and British which characterize the current Jamaican demography and gives credence to the Motto Out of Many, One People.

Given its rich cultural heritage and Spanish influence, the Spanish Jamaican Foundation (SJF), as part of its commitment to the people of Jamaica, along with the Jamaica National Heritage Trust (JNHT) and the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) have decided to embark on this venture; restoring the Great House to its former glory.

The SJF is offering the assistance of two renowned Spanish designers, Luis Sarda and Jorge Gil, who visited Jamaica in September and are working with the various stakeholders in the project; namely the JNHT curator, Dr. Jonathan Greenland, and leading architect, Mrs. Ann Hodges, are responsible for the refurbishment of the Great House.

Based on their vast knowledge and expertise in the area, it is expected that this project will boast the latest technological designs and should replicate first class European standards that will result in it being one of the most attractive historical museums in the wider Caribbean and the first of its kind in Jamaica.

On October 1, 2009, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the JNHT and the SJF with the Minister of Culture, Youth &Sports, Olivia Grange witnessing the occasion, to mark their commitment to this worthwhile initiative.
