The current situation that exists is one where wildlife in its natural habitat is endangered. The Marine Park Board was hence established to promote environmental awareness and preserve wildlife. The aim is to provide an alternative means of income for fishermen, by equipping them with the necessary skills to function in that environment. This includes training them to become tour guides and snorkel instructors.

As the Foundation’s first environmental project, they have welcomed the opportunity to contribute to the environment by, helping to raise awareness of the importance of preserving the environment, while at the same time, helping to provide a viable alternative for the fishermen. The foundation will work in collaboration with the Tourism Enhancement Fund, to ensure that this initiative is fulfilled.
